I've lately been making 'felted" handbags. If you've ever put one of your favorite wool sweaters in the wash and it comes out fitting your 15-month-old ... you've "felted". It's a fascinating process. You knit an oversized piece, throw it in a hot wash, hand-stretch and shape it flat, let it dry and you can cut it - it doesn't unravel! The fibers have melded together to make fabric. So cool! The fabric is about 1/4+" thick, so it's almost bullet-proof! I've been knitting oversized purses - all one piece and felting them. What do you think?
Will and I love to go to a neighborhood Thai place called Lingba Lounge (Crazy Monkey Lounge) for cocktails and the best appetizers in town. I usually carry this bag (under my arm). It holds a credit card, my gloves (I never go anywhere without gloves!), a lipstick and a comb. I love this bag!

Care and Cleaning

Always have your wool bags professionally dry cleaned. You can opt for a cold water wash in your machine with woolite, but your bag may need some reshaping. I use the plastic bags I bring home from the market. Fill the bag tightly and hang to dry. I don't really recommend this method.

This is a small "market bag". I personally love dark chocolate brown. Here I paired it with a hot pink, but I also love it with red and light blue - actually there aren't many colors it doesn't compliment.

You can fit tons of stuff in the bag. Shoulder or "messenger" carried. This is a great everyday purse.

"Pretty in Pink" of course! Great for evening or daytime. Dark rose colored with a rectangular-shaped bottom. Trimmed in chocolate faux fur. Velcro closure. And the faux fur is really breezy ... that's the only way to describe it!

This is a first time I've used the red faux fur. I know I said I was going to cool it on the fur, but it's so feminine and I'm crazy about the color red. Anyway, this is a true red shiny red fur on a dark black bag. It has a gathered closure.

While this shoulder bag was drying in the studio, every time I passed I had to feel it. The wool and mohair combo is irresistable. This bag also has a bakelite pin closure (see below). I like this bag!
It's roomy, is worn underarm (good protection - and I'm always thinking of that). It has an outside pocket (see left of bag) for your phone and things you want to get at quickly (my gloves!).

Messenger Ball Bag

The closure on this ball bag is a large strap inserted through the smaller strap. Very secure. And I can get my hand in to fish around with undoing the straps. The shoulder strap in this pic looks a little thin. The straps are 3" wide and the material on this bag as about 1/4" thick.
